Geekly

Geekly is a comic and manga reader that runs entirely on your device. We do not collect or sell your data. This policy explains what information we handle and why.

Data We Store (on your device only)

Comic files

The CBZ, PDF, EPUB and .geekly files that you import are stored on your device (or your personal iCloud Drive). We never analyze or transmit them to our servers.

Settings and metadata

Book titles, covers, your current page and reading preferences are stored locally using SwiftData. If you have iCloud enabled, this data syncs through your personal iCloud account (CloudKit), not our servers.

OpenRouter API Key (Geekly)

If you choose to use Geeky (AI chat), your API key is stored in the iOS secure Keychain. The key never leaves your device except to authenticate with OpenRouter.

Data that leaves your device (only when you use Geekly AI)

When you send a message in Geekly:

  • The images of recent comic pages (up to 3 pages) and your question are sent to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) over HTTPS.
  • OpenRouter processes these using AI models (such as Qwen or Gemini) and returns a response.
  • We do not receive, store, or have access to this data.
  • Please review OpenRouter's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle requests.

Geekly AI is completely optional. The app is a fully functional comic reader without it. No data is transmitted if you never use the AI feature.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not use cookies or trackers
  • We do not have analytics or telemetry
  • We do not sell or share data with third parties
  • We do not access your comic library without your permission
  • We do not require account creation

Security

  • Your data resides on your device and your personal iCloud account.
  • All connections to OpenRouter use HTTPS / TLS.
  • Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain — inaccessible to other apps.

Copyright

Geekly does not include copyrighted content. The comics and manga you read are your personal property. The sample comic included is public domain or freely licensed.
